I tried searching this but didn't find the answer so sorry if it's been asked before.

When using sand and sandstone as the substrate in the viv, do you put it straight on the wood of the inside or do you put it on lino or something first?

Does the "floor" of the viv need sealing?

It is shop bought and made from wood effect contiboard or similar and has been sealed at the edges with silicon.

Thanks

Phill

If it's rough sandstone then just a little sand first so that the stone beds in which also stops crix etc. from hiding under it. Otherwise straight on the floor is OK.

Trim it to size and then see what happens when you expose it to heat (42c) over a long period. You don't want it giving off fumes in the viv so you probably need to set up a table lamp to shine on it for a few days.
