Hi

I have a question I'm currently using aspen chippings for my beardies, but I've seen some viv set ups using tiles or other substrate can someone point me in the best direction, as I've read somewhere else calci sand and chippings etc can still harbour bacteria even if you have pooh picked.

I thought with tiles etc you can clean that area straight away, any advice I'd be grateful.

I've used a mix of sand and sandstone slabs for years and find it perfect. The sandstone (crazy paving style) retains heat nicely and also helps to keep their nails short whilst the sand gives them somewhere to dig and make warm relaxing areas. Additionally the differing surfaces also help exercise their feet. I pick up daily and sieve the sand as needed, then once a year give the place a complete strip down and clean, scrubbing and baking the rocks and replacing the sand. Exo Terra desert sand or playsand would be my choice if I didn't have the real stuff available to me  . Hope this helps.

Rick

Haven't got a decent photo but if you check this thread there are a few set ups with a mix of sand and sandstone to look at.
