Okay, Ill tell you how I got to love beardies!
I watched a program about chameleons, and I wanted one!
I went to Neon Gecko, a Paisley reptile shop, to look at chameleons.
I was just looking, and Id been reading about them before. I learned they were really hard to look after for a beginner. The assistant introduced me to bearded dragons, adn showed me some babies. I loved them! Some people were getting their beardie sexed, and they let me hold it.
I was amazed at how calm it was, just sitting in my hands.
I really want a beardie, but I know they can be expensive.
REALLY REALLY REEEEEEEAAAAALLLLLYYYYY expensive.
So Ill probably need a job before I can get one.
But as I am under the legal age limit (Im 12) obviously I wont be getting one for a while!

Michael wanted one (the story's on the website!), and I eventually gave in. When we got them I was smitten immediately! They reaaly win you over, don't they?

We went to a large pet shop and visited the reptile department. I was busy looking at the spiders and snakes and my husband told me to come quick and look at some lizards. There was a few baby beardies in a viv all scratching at the viv glass and they looked so sweet. When we got home I couldn't stop thinking about them but my hubbie said we'd have to wait until we moved house. I secretly thought - no way! My campaign to natter him into buying one lasted about 5 to 6 weeks when he eventually gave in and we got Oz. We all love him to bits

I studied small andimal care and pre vet nursing before moving on to work in something totally different but i've always picked an animal and just found out as much information on them as possible (im like a train spotter ... i dont have a train but i know how to look after it)

I can pretty much tell you anything about any animal, lol, so when my friend got a beardie four years ago i fell in love with her and was always going round and seeing her.

4 years later after he didnt have time for her due to other commitments i brought Alia home and i've been smitten ever since. I think she is so special because i've known her so long and have always wanted her and not just some baby beardie from a shop. So despite her demanding and spoilt behaviour i love her to bits and now im gona go give her some attention .... just because i can :D

I've always loved lizards as a kid my parents bought me two newts (as they are so easy to care for) and we had toads so when I left home I always new i'd end up with some reptiles I just had to persuade my partner to love them as well. We looked around our local reptile shop and my partner wanted a chameleon and I was thinking along the lines of a water dragon for its beautiful colours. My brother has a beardie but it has no colour or markings whatsoever and I thought all Beardies were the same so decided against a beardie. After about a year of going to the reptile shops just to look around I met a man who was talking about how beardies were the most social lizard you could get and he showed me some babies and I just fell completely in love. I pretty much decided then I would end up with a beardie! So I did some research and signed up to this forum and a few months after somoeone on here was advertising selling babies. I managaed to persuade my partner to let me go and view the babies (it took a whole morning) and we both fell in love straight away. Now my partner is hooked too! We are saving to buy a house and when we get it he has said we can have a whole reptile room! I'm hoping to get a rankin dragon next but not until we move in a couple of years :( Has anyone else seen the rankin dragons? They are just like minature beardies!!! x

Sophie wants to work with reptiles and amphibians when she is older and wanted a reptile or a snake but we were very unsure. My parents spent a few hours on a plane coming back from Australia sat with the reptile specialist from Durham Zoo and got talking , as you do, and he suggested a beardie.
Sophie started doing research and we found Michael and Trish's website and we are all now totally hooked.

me and my boyfriend went to buy some koi at a local garden centre and they have a really small reptile bit at the back and we went in to have a look and were faced with about 30 baby beardies and we instantly fell in love! we came home and did LOADS of research in to them becuse we knew nothing about them and decided we wanted to get one - so excited! we spent about a week travelling round to different reptile shops (nearly came home with about 10!!!) and chose Bez, simply because everytime we walked past the viv he was in he was the only one that followed us! we have had him for 7 months now and he is amazing :D :D this is a pic of when we first got him
