This is a checklist of things that I ask people to have ready before they collect a dragon. It may be of use to anyone thinking of purchasing a dragon, incase you have forgotten / overlooked something. Having a cage setup and running will minimise stress and help your new dragon settle in quicker:

Vivarium - at least 3' x 2' (preferably at least 4' x 2')

Substrate - paper/tiles/reptile carpet for babies; fine, sifted playground sand can also be used for adults

UVB tube (8 - 10 strength) and controller

Basking light, providing a basking temperature of 105-115F

Basking spot - either rocks or sturdy branches

Food - both greens and insects

Calcium / vitamin supplements

Water dish and food dish

Timer to control the day / night cycle of the lights

Andy

This is really useful Andy - I often get emails to the site asking what equipment people need! Thanks!

The one thing I would add is a thermometer. I personally recommend a digital dual temp one with a probe so you can see at a glance what the temps are at the basking spot and at the cooler end.

Hello. I am a mother of 2, and have been totally dead set against any type of reptile in my house. But for the last few weeks my husband was really wanting to get a few beardies. So the person who I am, started to do some research. And when I came across your site. I was totally blown away with all the info. If I was reading and thought of a question, buy the time I got to the end of your sentence. My question was answered. I am now doing some searching for what we need. Hubby was very happy to hear that I had agreed to get a pair. His brother is a breeder, so we are getting a great blood line from him. And again.. I will be coming back to this site. Just can't get over how totally awsome and informative. And the best part with all the pictures to show how you did all the incubating. Just a wonderful job.

Thanks..
