How high have you stacked the egg crates? Are they too close to the top? I've never had any escape

Well i didnt think the egg crates were high enough or close enough to the top edge , the only way we think they managed it was they must of jumped a little bit off the crates, then fell down and crawled under the door .Poxy things dont they realise how scared iam of them lol

a little question about using a heat mat, can i sit the heat mat on my kitchen tiles with a 60 liter tub straight on top of it ? or would it be safe to ducttape the mat to the front or back of the box?

I have my colony in our spare room, in the corner, I have tiles placed down and the heat mat on top and the box straight on top of that, I only keep the mat on during the night, but during the day it's hot enough without it.

The more females the better really to stop the males fighting over them. I will get a few updated pictures of my colony this week for you once ive cleaned them out. I had a look on a few websites and its now worth about £200 if I was to sell :D

Its usually a lot cleaner than that and the crates are packed in tighter.. At last count there was 75 females and 30 males but theres probably loads more now as the smaller ones have become adults.. I havent counted them for about a month. A friend of mine is actually selling me his colony so ill be adding another 100 odd females and 50 males this weekend once they arrive. Plus literally hundreds and hundreds of babies.

All the black stuff is the poo. I usually just shake off all the egg trays so all debris is on the bottom of the tub then scoop it into a corner, make sure theres no small roaches in the pile and hoover it out. lol..

All loads of fun :)

I will be dividing them up as well do I have just adults in one tub and all the babies/small nypmhs in another tub. The lack of babies in with the adults actually stimulates them to breed more. Also means I can keep an eye on the adults and keep a good count of them
