iv'e been feeding my three beardie's on locust "hopper's" to be precise and was wondering how many is enough ? i know people feed crix giving their beardie 10 min's to eat as many as they want but would this be the case with hopper's ? with a box of crix you get quite a few but with hopper's maybe 15 or 20 so what's the thinking on this ?? :)

Best I can do is say that I feed 8~10 adult roaches every second or third day to our adult beardies. So if you can imagine the equivalent amount of protein in locusts that will be enough. I don't use locusts so no idea as to how big hoppers are over here I'm afraid.

hi rick , hopper's come in different size's but the one's i feed are at the stage where they are nearly adult ! indeed some actually grow the wing's before iv'e fed them to my beardie's , but looking at what you say about the roache's you feed to your's i think im giving mine about the right amount thank's :D

If you've got some good gram scales try weighing say 10 reasonable size hoppers and post here. I'll then weigh the same number of roaches as a comparison.

hi rick , 10 reasonable size hopper's weigh 12 gram's ! so if your roache's weigh about the same i'll be pleased but if they are a bit more heavy i could always make up the differnce with an extra X amount of locust thank's .

Well 10 adult lobster roaches weigh in at 6 gm approx. so you can afford to reduce your rate of feeding somewhat. Nutrition values are similar so I'd bring them down slowly to maybe 5~6 locusts every couple of days as long as the weight is pretty static or increases slightly you'll be OK.

that's good new's because i was thinking they might still be hungry ! when i feed them they look at me as though to say hey ! we want more , so i'll reduce their intake keep an eye on their weight and adjust accordingly thank's :)
